Rebooted
by xerxes on Dec.21, 2009, under personal, xerxesPoint
Every time I look at the site after leaving it alone for quite some time I see how boring I was constantly wining about workload disallowing me to put any real content up and push the site further, while each next post basically saying I was even more busy. Jeez. Luckily for our sanity that’s finally over! (continue reading…)
Chargers unified
by xerxes on Jul.01, 2009, under gadgets, lifestyle
When I saw the heading of this news article I was quite amused. I haven’t heard of any initiative to unify the cellphone chargers’ plugs thus far even though chargers’ internals must have been similar already, given they all produce same output. It’s definitely a good idea but interesting quiestions start to pop up once you think about it. (continue reading…)
Login necessary to post comments
by xerxes on Jun.30, 2009, under xerxesPoint
I’ve switched the flip requiring an account for posting comments. Obviously due to spam. This annoyance should be gone in a few days after I add captcha to the comment posting form.
EDIT: The situation has been resolved. I’ve found an excellent (and small!) wp-num-captcha plugin that shows a simple math question rather than annoying image to read the letters from. I hope it’s as easy and painless for you as it looks to me. I’ll even try to replace the captcha on the contact page. Of course, if you run into any trouble with it, be sure to drop me a line.

The speed at which those were appearing lately has been steadily increasing to a point where I decided that I will be skipping stuff, a real shame since both sites are excellent in writing and interesting in content. It was last week however, that I noticed the flow of news suddenly slowing down to manageable numbers. (continue reading…)

And so all the technicalities normally invisible to you are finally set up. Security, accounts, server-side config. Now I’ll focus on the visual and functionally details of the site itself. Fasten your seat belts
Those technically minded would be more than welcome to drop me a line if any errors are spotted. Cheers!

OK, finally got down to setting the hosting and wordpress up (will write about later). Lots of things still to do: security features are not yet fully implemented, themes will come and go as I’m picking various plugins. This plus lots of content for proper lift off. Definitely a work in progress but at least we have a start.
xerxesPoint is still a work in progress. Don't be surprised when something new pops up. If you see something broken, be sure to drop me a line through the
